DESCRIPTION:IEC is excited to announce the return of our Annual Conference! Kicking off the statewide Environmental Education Week (hosted by IEC and the Harkin Institute). IEC’s Annual Conference promises to be a space for friends and professionals in the environmental community to learn\, grow\, and be motivated for the continuing work of building a just\, healthy environment and sustainable future for all Iowans. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to develop deeper relationships within the environmental community and build a movement for environmental action in Iowa. Attendees will participate in three tracks with three individual sessions that include panel discussions\, hear a plenary session\, engage with exhibitors\, and enjoy a keynote address from Dr. Benjamin Pauli. \nTracks Include: \n\nTrack 1: Pathways to Change\nTrack 2: Healthy Environment\, Healthy Iowa\nTrack 3: Growing Environmental Justice in Iowa\nTrack 4: Legal Engagement for Impact (6 hours of CLE Credit available)​\n\nAbout the Keynote: \nWe’ll start the day with a thought-provoking keynote presentation from Dr. Benjamin Pauli\, Associate Professor of Social Science at Kettering University in Flint\, Michigan. Dr. Pauli has been extensively involved in the response to the Flint water crisis as a Flint resident and researcher. He is the author of Flint Fights Back: Environmental Justice and Democracy in the Flint Water Crisis (MIT Press 2019)\, president of the board of the Environmental Transformation Movement of Flint\, and acting chair of the Flint Water System Advisory Council.
